If you’ve come here finding instructions on the way to create a link tree for Instagram, you probably already know that Instagram has pretty restrictive policies when it comes to sharing links.
The platform doesn’t allow including links to feed posts, and “Swipe up” links in Stories are only available to bigger accounts. The Instagram bio is the only place where all Instagram users can use to add a link. One link, to be precise.
Link trees can help you take advantage of this precious real estate. By making a link tree for Instagram, you turn your one link in bio into a hub for, well, many links. And with more links, you’ll be able to direct traffic exactly where you want it — be it your store, a signup form, a brand new piece of content, or an essential business update.

An Instagram link tree is an easy landing page, accessible from your Instagram bio, that includes many links. These links can lead people to wherever you want: your website, store, or blog.
Because most users access Instagram link trees from their mobile devices, link tree landing pages need to be easy to navigate. Most simply feature a few bold buttons.
Let’s take a look at this Instagram link tree example from the account @meghantelpner.
Now we will go through what a link tree is, and why it’s worth your while. It’s time to create one for your own!
We will go over the two ways to construct one for your Instagram:
- Using Linktr.ee, a specialized tool for constructing Instagram bio links.
- Constructing a custom landing page.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Create a free account
Go to linktr.ee/register, and fill in your information.
Then, check your inbox and you will see a verification email. Follow the instructions in it.
Step 2: Add links
Once you verify your account, you can access your dashboard.
Click the purple Add New Link button on the home display to add your first link
You will then can include a title, a URL, and a thumbnail to your link:
You’ll be able to upload an image from your photo library or select one from Linktree’s icon library:
And that’s it! Repeat the process until you’ve added all the links that you want.
As you add links, you will see a preview of your link tree on the right column of the dashboard:
Step 3: Manage your links
Click on the purple lightning icon to include special links or headers. Headers will allow you to manage your links by theme or purpose.
At any point, you can move your links and headers around by choosing the three vertical dots icon and dragging the element to its new placement.
Step 4: Design the appearance of your link tree
With all the links in place, it’s the right time to create your link tree truly yours.
Start by heading to the Appearance tab in the top menu.
Here, you can include a picture and a short description of your link tree page. You can also change your link tree’s theme. Many free choices can be found. Pro users can create their own custom themes.
Step 5: Include this link tree in your Instagram bio
You’re all set. Now that you have your custom link tree ready to go, it’s time to include it in your Instagram bio. Just copy the URL from the top right corner of the dashboard:
Then, go to your Instagram account, click Edit Profile, and add the URL to the Website section.
And that’s it! The link will appear in your Instagram bio.
