Teens only have the “Standard” and “Less” options under the sensitive content control. The “Less” state automatically in under-16-year-old new users on Instagram. Teenagers already using Instagram will receive a prompt urging them to choose the “Less” experience. Young people will have a harder time finding potentially sensitive content or accounts in Search, Explore, Hashtag Pages, Reels, Feed Recommendations, and Suggested Accounts as a result.
Additionally, they are trialing a fresh strategy for persuading teenagers to update their privacy and safety settings. Teenagers will see prompts requesting that they review their settings, which include those governing who can reshare their content, who can message and contact them, what content they can view, and how to control their time spent on Instagram.

Controls to help people customize their experience on Instagram are constantly being developed. Instagram released Sensitive Content Control last summer so users could decide how much or how little sensitive content they wanted to see in Explore from accounts they didn’t follow.
