How to Keep Spotify from Adding Songs to Your Playlist?

Spotify has revolutionized the way we listen to music, making it easy to stream your favorite songs with just a tap. Along with streaming, Spotify lets you create playlists with your favorite tracks. However, you might have noticed songs popping up in your playlists that you didn’t add. If you want to keep Spotify from adding these songs to your playlist, this guide is here to help.

Spotify adds songs to your playlist due to the Smart Shuffle feature, formerly known as the Enhance feature. We’ll show you how to keep Spotify from adding and playing random songs in your playlists.

How to Keep Spotify from Adding Songs to Your Playlist?

1. Disable Smart Shuffle on Spotify

Previously known as Enhance, Smart Shuffle on Spotify automatically adds new songs to your playlist while shuffling the existing ones. Unfortunately, to disable this feature, you must subscribe to Spotify Premium. If you’re unsure, check our detailed comparison of Spotify Free vs. Spotify Premium to make an informed decision.

If you upgrade to or already have a Spotify Premium subscription, here’s how to disable Smart Shuffle and stop suggested songs:

  1. Open Spotify and navigate to the playlist with the recommended songs.
  2. Tap the Shuffle button and select your preferred option.

On Phone:

1. Open Spotify and find the song you want to add.
2. Tap and hold the song, then choose Add to playlist
3. Select the playlist and tap Done.

On Desktop:

1. Open Spotify and find the song you want to add.
2. Right-click the song and choose Add to playlist.

You can also open the playlist where you want to add more songs and click Add next to the song you want to include.

Note: To further avoid Spotify’s recommendations, open the Spotify app, tap on your profile icon, select Playback, scroll down, and toggle off Autoplay similar content.
