5 Methods to Discover New Songs on YouTube Music

new songs on YouTube music

Finding new songs on YouTube Music can be exciting and fun. With many features available, it’s easy to discover fresh tunes that you’ll love. In this guide, we’ll share five simple ways to help you find new music on YouTube Music. Whether you want the latest hits or hidden gems, these tips will make finding new music easy and enjoyable. Let’s get started!

Samples

The Samples feature on YouTube Music has made it much easier for me to find new songs. It’s like scrolling through TikTok, with 30-second clips from different songs. Each clip starts in the middle, so you can quickly decide if you like it.

However, it’s not perfect. One problem is that the same songs can show up a lot. This can be annoying when you’re looking for new music. Another issue is that when I play a sample I like, it often goes to the music video instead of the regular recording. You can fix this by switching from the video tab to the song tab, but it would be nice if YouTube Music played the version you want without extra steps.

Recommended Radios

The Recommended Radios feature is one of the best parts of YouTube Music. It gives you an updated list of songs based on your liking and helps you find new artists and songs.

To find it, scroll halfway down the home tab. You’ll see a row of ten radio stations, each with a unique design and the YouTube Music logo. The stations have different themes, like single bands, music from certain decades (like 2000s or 2020s), or descriptions like “Deep cuts.” Click on any station that interests you and enjoy the music.

The recommended radios are different from YouTube Music playlists because they always change. Every time you refresh, you get new stations, giving you a fresh and unpredictable music experience.

Charts

The Charts section in the YouTube Music home tab helps me find popular music from different countries easily. To access it, just open the YouTube Music app, scroll down, and select Charts.

Charts

On the Charts page, you’ll see top songs, music videos, artists, genres, and trending songs for your country. The best part is the drop-down menu that lets you pick any other country to see their charts. This way, I can see what music people like in different places. One moment, I’m looking at the top songs in France and the next, I’m checking out what South Africans are listening to. It’s a fun way to explore music from around the world.

Moods and Genres

Moods and Genres

The Moods and Genres section, found at the end of the Home page or in the Explore tab on YouTube Music, helps you find music that fits your current mood. The Moods & moments section is great when you don’t know what to listen to. Just pick a mood, like Party or Feel Good, and YouTube Music will show you new songs, albums, playlists, and artists that match your feelings without endless scrolling.

When I know what kind of music I want, I go straight to the Genres section. I’ve found amazing music there, like in the Folk & Acoustic genre, that I wouldn’t have discovered otherwise.

Fans Might Also Like

The Fans Might Also Like feature is great for finding new artists similar to my favorites. It uses an algorithm, not people, so it’s unbiased.

Here’s how I use it: I start with an artist I love and scroll down to the Fans Might Also Like section on their page. This shows me similar artists I might not have found otherwise. I listen to their top songs, and if I like one, I explore more of their music.

I also check out the From the Community playlists on the Home tab. These playlists, made by other users, mix songs I know with new ones. Together, the algorithm and playlists help me find new music in a fun and easy way.

Final Words

Finding new songs on YouTube Music is easy and fun with these 5 methods. Try them out and see which ones work best for you.

Soon, your playlist will be filled with fresh and exciting tracks. Happy listening!
