Why Can’t I Repost on Instagram?

Who Can Repost Stories?

On Instagram, you can repost someone’s Story if they tag you in it. But, the original poster has to allow resharing. If you can’t repost, one of these might be why:

If you’re tagged in a Story, you’ll get a message in your DMs. You can add it to your own Story from there.

There are two main ways to repost a Story:

  1. Tap the notification in your DMs.
  2. Go to the creator’s profile and add it to your Story.

We’ll explain how to repost later on.

Why Can’t I Repost on Instagram?

The main reason you can’t repost someone’s Story is if they didn’t tag you. It’s unlikely unless you know them well.

If you were tagged, others can tap your Instagram username to see your profile.

Tip: Once tagged, you can’t remove it. You can only report it. To avoid being tagged, change your settings.

Another reason you can’t repost is if the creator turned off sharing, even if you’re tagged.

A quick tip: If you’re screen recording, crop the video to remove Instagram’s extra stuff for a cleaner look.

Note: Remember to give credit to the original creator since they won’t be notified if you use this method.
