What You Can Sell on Facebook Marketplace

Certain items are not allowed on Marketplace, such as:

Digital products Adult items Alcohol Body parts or fluids Weapons, ammo, or explosives Pets Jobs Sexual services Illegal, prescription, or recreational drugs Supplements you ingest Real, virtual, or fake money Deceptive or offensive items Ads

Facebook Marketplace Payment info

Sellers choose the payment method. Facebook Pay is one option for getting paid instantly.

You can also chat on Facebook Messenger to decide on a payment method that works for both. For instance, if you prefer PayPal or Venmo but the buyer doesn’t have them, you might agree on cash when they pick up the item if they’re nearby.

Tips for Successful Selling on Facebook Marketplace

Since many sellers are using the Marketplace, it’s important to stand out. Here are some tips to help:

Include a video in your listing. Items with videos tend to sell faster. Check out the competition and price your items competitively. Take good photos with proper lighting. Respond promptly to questions. Provide detailed item descriptions. Be open to offers and negotiate. Use tags to improve visibility. Also, learn common Marketplace acronyms like PM (personal message), OBO (or best offer), NWT (new with tags), PUP (pick-up pending), and NIL (next in line).
